In January 2022, the Lord led me to share several prayers that I had written with local intercessors, friends, and the women that I was mentoring through Cultivate A Better Life. Earlier today (Jan 6, 2024), I sensed the Lord encouraging me to use these prayers once again for this month of fasting and consecration, and to share them with you!
I call these prayers, “Twelve Days of Restorative Prayer”. Take several minutes each day for 12 days to pray the day’s prayer, starting today or in the next few days.
Day 1 - Prayer of Restoration
Explanation of the Day 1 Prayer
God gave me this prayer in January 2020 as He was doing some deep healing for a part of me that was still deeply wounded by an incident that happened when I was five. As you read the prayer, you'll see that it's not your normal petition, and it asks God to penetrate the unseen stuff in us that inhibits us from being fully alive in Him. Sometimes, I use this prayer to pray for my children.
Emotional healing and spiritual freedom is an onion peeling type of journey. Each of you knows this.
Restorative Prayer Expanded Version
I come to You, Jesus the Messiah, the only begotten of the Father, and I bring every part of my 'self' to you this day: spirit, every part of my heart, subconscious, psyche, will, birthright (divine destiny), and every cell and system in my physical body. (pause) Bring healing, restoration, forgiveness, cleansing, wholeness, miraculous re-creating, and mending -- for any situation, offense, harm, turmoil, terror, nightmare, witchcraft, mental, emotional or physical confusion and abuse, abandonment, trauma, neglect, misuse that happened to me or that I did to someone else or to myself at any point since I was conceived in my mother's womb, -- or even anything that happened to my parents that would have affected the egg and sperm that I am formed from. You make all things new. Make today a totally new day for every part of my being, seen and unseen. In Jesus name, Amen.
Day 1 add-on: Generational Repentance
Most High God, Just and Righteous Judge, I come to Your throne of grace and mercy, to confess and renounce sins, transgressions and iniquity that I have committed and that those in my blood line have committed, from Adam and Eve forward. I ask for the forgiveness given by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ to cover any:
- occult activity, sexual sin, deception, bitterness, pride, and fear
-agreements made knowingly or unknowingly with spirits and souls who partner with the the realm of darkness.
I acknowledge that these sins prevent the blessings of the Lord from correctly coming down my family lines and being released in my life/ and the lives of my husband/and children. I forgive my ancestors who have participated in these sins, transgressions and iniquity and I thank you for forgiving me.

Day 2 - Prayer for Wisdom
Lord God, I bring James 1:5 to you, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." In a given day, situations arise where I need wisdom. People tell me things or want advice. I need wisdom for what and how to respond. Throughout the day, I have decisions to make in my home, my job, ministry, school...everything. The children and young people in my life need me to disciple them with wisdom. I want to help them learn how to think and act wisely. So I ask You now to release to me the wisdom that I need today and every day. With wisdom, please give me knowledge and understanding:
- which will help me access the hearts of people around me
- to know how to reply to someone with the power and fruit of the Spirit
- to address issues with restfulness and patience in my soul.
As I begin to give wise counsel, make wise decisions, and behave wisely in every situation, help me Holy Spirit to not idolize wisdom (intellect) as the world does, but to worship You, the Wisdom-Giver, the Almighty God who created the heavens and the earth.
Lord, the apostle Paul mentions words of wisdom that do not contain the power of God (1 Cor 2:4, 1 Cor 1:17).
As I walk in wisdom, I want to remain humble, not impressed by the words that come from my mouth, but amazed by the Spirit that released the power needed to show me what wise decision to make; grateful for the transformation that happens in the person who needed wise counsel; and in awe of You, Most High God who gives generously when I need help.
I pray this prayer honoring the name above all names, Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
Prayer again today the Restorative Prayer Expanded Version
Tomorrow's prayer (Day 3) will be a before bedtime prayer for sleep, protection in the night and mental rest.
Day 3 - Ministry in the Night
Begin with Restorative Prayer Extended Version
(This will be the third time you have prayed this particular prayer. After you pray today, I encourage you to take a few moments and think about the Lord as Healer and Restorer. Ask the Spirit of God to give you further experience with God as Healer and Restorer. Feel free to journal or just sit in His Presence.
Lord, I bring every part of my self to you this day. (pause) Bring healing, restoration, forgiveness, cleansing, wholeness, miraculous re-creating, mending, for any situation, offense, harm, turmoil, terror, nightmare, witchcraft, mental emotional or physical confusion and abuse, abandonment, trauma, neglect, misuse that happened to me or that I did to someone else or to myself at any point since I was conceived in my mother's womb, or even anything that happened to my parents that would have affected the egg and sperm that I am formed from. You make all things new. Make today a totally new day for every part of my being, seen and unseen. In Jesus name, Amen.
Lord Jesus, I renounce and repent for all those in my family line and me, back to the beginning of time and from Adam and Eve forward, who entered into occult activity, sexual sin, deception, bitterness and violence towards a family member, and who knowingly or unknowingly made agreements with spirits and souls who partner with the the realm of darkness. I acknowledge that these sins has prevented the blessings of the Lord from correctly coming down the family line and being released in my life/ and the lives of my husband/and children.
Before you pray the following Day 3 Prayer “Ministry in the Night” I want to share this:
The wording of a prayer isn't what is powerful or releases the power of God. Merely going to God and asking is what releases His power. God knows what we need before we ask, but He likes us to ask. He likes us to be cognizant of what we need. Going to Him with our needs shows Him our dependency on Him and our belief that He is gracious, kind and powerful. Saying specific, strategic prayers like these do a few things for us:
Helps us acknowledge the details of our need in every part of our life: spirit, soul, body, destiny, life, family.
Reminds us how He masterfully created us - the facets of the unseen and visible parts of our personhood.
Gives us a testimony when the prayer is answered.
Brings attention to ways of praying and specifically depths of praying that we may have never considered.
The following Day 3 Prayer comes from research that I have done in the last few years as well as encounters that I and others have had with not only the Holy Spirit, but also spiritual wickedness during our sleep.
Day 3 - Ministry in the Night
God, I come to you as Judge and Righteous Judge, Redeemer and Comforter; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are God that never sleeps nor slumbers. So while I sleep, I ask You to release my physical body from toxins, pathogens that inhibit my wellbeing.
Correct any alterations to each of my brain wave states: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and theta that were made through technology that distorts who and how you created me to be; and through evil spirits that seek to steal, kill, and destroy. You came to give me abundant life, so I thank you that your corrections while I sleep will align my spirit, soul, and physical body as well as my decisions, mindset, and life trajectory with Your will for me. (John 10:10)
Father, you sent Jesus to heal the broken-hearted which means shattered into many pieces. In my life, I have suffered wounds from people and fiery darts from the enemy that has caused my heart (soul) to be like a broken mirror. I speak to every part of my heart - receive beauty for ashes; receive peace for turmoil and worry; receive healing from every wound and fiery dart of the enemy.
While I sleep, step into my memories, my subconscious state and bring healing or closure where needed. I invite you into my dream state, govern my dream state, and speak to me though dreams. Tomorrow let me know which dreams to discard and which dreams You are using to communicate something to me. Unlock any amnesiac barrier that inhibits my personhood: spirit, soul, and body from being 1) fully aware of my inner world and the world around me and 2) fully empowered by Your Spirit. I speak to my spirit - Engage with Holy Spirit as I sleep. When I wake up, release to my conscious mind anything the Holy Spirit wants me to know. I speak to my body - Body - you are a temple of the Holy Spirit. I am forgiven by the grace of God. You are not defiled. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Nervous System - receive the "rest" of the Lord.
Lastly Lord, I ask that you would surround me and my family with ministering and warring angels. Angels charged with my destiny (and my kids/spouse, family members) go prepare our way. Open doors of favor, opportunity, and service that the Lord wants opened and close doors that the Lord wants closed.
Most High God, put a sight, sound, heat and vibrational barrier around me that no evil spirit or human being that does occult practices or speaks dark prayers would penetrate. Forgive me and my family for any access point that we've opened to the domain of darkness. Close and seal it with the blood of Jesus the Christ, the lamb slain before the beginning of the world.
Thank you Lord! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
If you want to pray the Restorative Prayer Extended Version every day, feel free. Otherwise, from this point onward, you can just prayer the daily prayer.
Day 4 - Admission of Sins of the Flesh.
Lord God, each of us has contributed in some way to the current condition of our locality, state, and nation, whether through neglect or misuse of our civic responsibilities; by honoring systems, institutions, traditions and even people above You; or by participating in other sins that defile the land, and for all this I say right now, please forgive me for my part.
I admit fears that constrain me, gossip that lures me, immorality that tempts me, unrighteous anger and criticism that inhibits Your power in me. Please forgive me. Free any person or system that I have negatively impacted in word, thought, or deed. Banish any evil spirit that affected them because of my sin. Show me any unforgiveness in me. Help me be aware of bitterness that I am harboring or a relationship that I have not brought to closure in a godly way. (take a minute and let the Holy Spirit reveal anything).
Lord, if you want me to reach out to this person, let me know. Where I am unwilling, help me be willing. Otherwise, I forgive this person and bless them in the name of Jesus, with the love and grace of the Lord. I ask you to comfort them, protect them, reveal Your Light to them, and give them wonderful, Jesus-focused relationships. I bless them. Forgive me for fearing them, ignoring them, rejecting them, and speaking or thinking ill of them. I bless them. Separate this person and me from any ungodly quantum entanglements with one another. Cleanse us now from the sins, transgressions, and iniquity of the past that affected our past interaction. Thank you Lord, In Jesus name' Amen.
(End this time by spending a few seconds being still in the presence of the Lord. Ps 46:10)
Day 5 - Removing Masks
Sometimes when we have experienced rejection, criticism, or accusation, we "put on" a mask to cover our wound and to pretend like "we are fine". We go to church with the "expected smile" but underneath we are sad or angry. Perhaps we live or work in a place where "image" is important and we want to fit in so that we are not rejected. As a result, we mask ourselves.
Prayer - Most High God, I admit that in order to cope or get along in life, I have sometimes put on a mask--a façade, a false persona of success or positivity, or I try to be what I assume will make me likeable, accepted, and even desired. But Lord you created my truest self--the eternal part of me that will experience Your presence for eternity. You put this truest self into my mother's womb and as human DNA formed by physical body, I inherited the predispositions of my bloodlines...some of which are a tendency to put on a "mask", to people please, to live for others before I live for You. Also Lord because of what I have suffered at times: rejection, criticism, and accusation, it has not been easy to feel safe enough to be fully alive in my truest self. (Pray the following if applicable - Father, sometimes I don't think I really know "me"...the truest self that You created. Help me study Psalm 139 and as I do, reveal to me who You created me to be.)
Judge and Righteous Judge, forgive me for using the false sense of security of a mask to hide from others or to protect myself from further hurt. Heal every part of my heart that is stuck in a moment of rejection, criticism or accusation. Forgive me when I have rejected, criticized, and accused others. Thank you for your forgiveness.
Thank you for Your healing power. Heal those that I have wounded. I finish this prayer knowing that You have heard me. I look forward to moving forward in life being and revealing the "me" that You created in Your heart. In Jesus' name, I pray,
(For a moment, take a few cleansing breaths and then bask in His presence as time permits.)
Day 6 - Deeper Surrender
Holy Spirit, I direct this prayer to You. I confess that I have not addressed you as much as I have the Father and Jesus the Messiah. My religious or cultural background gave me a perspective of you that has kept me for pursuing You directly. But You, Holy Spirit, are as much a part of the Godhead as the Father and Jesus.
Jesus said that after He ascended He would sent the Promise of the Father, who is You. Teach me about Your function and purposes in the earth. Forgive me for grieving and ignoring You throughout my day. You are the one "who comes alongside" us (John 15:26 PARAKLETOS) and I want you to come alongside me to be my counselor, my helper, the one who shows me things to come, who moves me with compassion, who dwells in my body, who endues me with power, who fills me, guides me, speaks through me, and comforts me.
I admit that in the past, I have been hurt by a Christian leader, brother or sister and that hurt has impacted my perspective of many things about this faith journey. Help me fully forgive from every part of my heart and release the wounds to Jesus. Help me worship purer. Help me pray more consistently. Help me serve without ambition. Help me love without condition. Make me hungry to read the Word of God. As I read, may it feed me, teach me, and inspire me. Again, I say, Most High God, I surrender to You with every part of my heart, soul, and mind. I will serve no other gods before You. Jesus, I bless your holy name.
—
(You may want to pray the Day 1 Restorative Prayer again, slowing down and reflecting upon each word or phrase as you pray. The Holy Spirit may be a memory to you, a thought, a person...something that He is communicating to you. If this happens, pause and simply ask Him why this came to your mind. Write it down. Tomorrow's prayer will incorporate ways to pray if the Holy Spirit brings something...a memory, a thought, or person to your mind.
You DO NOT have to continue praying this specific prayer unless the Holy Spirit nudges you to. But take a few moments and think about the Lord as Healer and Restorer. Ask the Spirit of God to give you further experience with God as Healer and Restorer. Feel free to journal or just sit in His Presence for a moment or two.)
Day 7 - Declaration of Protection
We cannot easily perceive God with our five senses. Yes, we have examples in Scripture of men and women encountering God - Abraham (Gen 17:1), Moses (Ex 3:4, 33:9-23) and of course all who encountered Jesus as He walked the earth; but now usually we need our five senses to surrender to our spirit--the innermost part of our being (Proverbs 20:27)--the part of us that easily engages with the Spirit of God.
Prayer - Most High God, I come to You in the name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ and I declare that You go before me and You are my rearguard. I choose to dwell in Your shelter, in Your shadow. You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.(Psalm 91) I receive and embrace the shield of faith so that I can extinguish the fiery darts of wicked spirits (Eph. 6:16). I forbid wicked spirits from interrupting my time of prayer. I forbid any spirit aligned with the domain of darkness from bringing me a counterfeit of what is pure, true, and good in the eyes of the Most High God. (1 John 4:1)
Holy Spirit, engage with my spirit, my innermost being, and help my spirit release whatever You desire, to my conscious mind and any of my physical senses.
Now, spend a few moments waiting in His presence. Expecting His work within you.
Day 8 - Unholy Binding
Much of what I do is help people discover the ways their life and the lives of their children are affected by generational sin patterns, decisions, legal contracts and others things done or said by previous generations. Discovering these ways is a process, however God loves to reveal in order to restore us to shalom.
(shalom - wholeness, completeness of mind and body, peace, soundness, health, safety, prosperity)
Prayer - Heavenly Father, who Jesus called Abba while he suffered on the Cross, I ask You to show me anything in my life, or the lives of my children (or spouse) that keeps us bound to the sins and iniquities and of previous generations.
(Sin - missing the mark of God's eternal law iniquity - way of thinking that deviates from God's thinking, violation)
I agree with the adversary (1 Peter 5:8) that my ancestors and I have done deeds and spoken words that do not bless (empower), but instead curse (initiate a destructive course). Forgive me for every word or phrase that I have thought or spoken about myself that is contrary to the way God sees me. Forgive me for every word or phrase that I have thought or spoken about my child(ren) or spouse (if applicable) that is contrary to the way God sees them. Forgive me for every word or phrase that I have thought or spoken about others that is contrary to the way God sees them.
(Write down any person that God brings to mind and acknowledge to God how you have sinned against them.)
Holy Spirit, the Scripture says no human being can tame their tongue, but YOU can tame my tongue. Please tame my tongue. Scripture also says in Luke 6:45 that The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good;
and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
Help me fill my heart with the fruit of the Spirit, with understanding and knowledge of the Word of God. Help my heart know discretion and wisdom. Cleanse my heart of bitterness, resentment, grudges, prejudice, rebellion, pride, and self-righteousness. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Ps 51:10) Loosen me and my children from what binds us to ways of thinking, speaking and behaving that are contrary to God's eternal law and His ways. When I fail with my words, I will reflect and see what I have allowed to enter the gate of my heart. Thank you Lord, for Your mercy and grace. In Jesus' name, so be it.
Day 9 - Reflection and Gratitude
Last week (Jan 2022) we almost had a house fire. I am still in awe of how God led my oldest sons to come check on the house 2 hours after we received notice that our power had been restored after a 4 1/2 day outage. When they walked into the kitchen they saw smoke beginning to rise from a burner that had been covered with a drying pad and a long baking pan. They lifted the pan that was sitting on top of the pad and sure enough small sparks were beginning to rise because a burner had not been turned off. (When the power went off I was getting ready to make breakfast. The next morning, in a cold house I randomly sat the pad there to dry after washing up the dishes before we left to stay with friends).
If my sons had not come home...whew!
Be thankful for miracles and God’s ability to bring resolution. I am a child survivor of domestic abuse. What I began to see at age 5 would bring you to tears. Fear, anxiety, rage and bitterness set in my heart...as well as the drive to protect my mom at all costs. In my mid-20s, after a day of healing prayer and deliverance with a local ministry, I was able to drive home and call my dad. The miracle is that he owned up to the trauma he caused me, how he mistreated my mom and he apologized. That phone call resolves years of internal angst.
Thanking God for the "simple" things: enough food, waking up another morning etc., does not
take as much reflection time as remembering the challenges and heartaches that we often would rather NOT remember. Sometimes we need to take a step and rummage through our lives to remember what happened that HE resolved or what could have happened that HE prevented. Inhale. Exhale. Take a few minutes and rummage through your years. Inhale. Exhale. Reflect on how God has shown His hand of protection, or healing, or justice,...whatever. Inhale. Exhale. Know that He sees you and loves you.
Then simply state: "Dear God, I am so grateful for how You (fill in the blank in a detailed way).
Colossians 4:2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
Reflective gratitude is a wonderful way to restore your spirit, soul, and body.
Day 10 - Peace Despite Storms
Most of us know the following hymn, "It Is Well"; you can find out why it was written here. All of us know the story about Jesus in the boat. He slept soundly as others panicked. No storm jostled Jesus' from his deep sleep--his rest. Just as it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to abound in hope, (Romans 15:13)
I believe it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to have this type of restful disposition when everything around us may be stormy--family, job, culture, even church.
S1. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.
S2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
Chorus: It is well, with my soul, It is well, with my soul, It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Prayer of Rest and Peace - Father in heaven, I will simply say that there are storms that make me afraid. Relational conflict or situational crises bring about a degree of unsettledness and worry. In the past, I have had challenges that now--when I see a similar challenge coming, I get triggered.
Lord, I need rest for the weary, easily troubled parts of my soul. Holy Spirit, release to me the power and perspective that Jesus had when he was in the boat sleeping. Lord, you are my Rock. (2 Sam 22:2) You are my hiding place. (Psalm 119:114) You surround me with shouts of deliverance! (Psalm 32:7) Fill me with your power oh Lord, the power that helps me abound in hope.
Calm the parts of my soul that get triggered. Recalibrate the parts of my brain that hold memories - amygdala and other parts. Breathe upon these parts of my brain and my nervous system, breathe new life and release the comfort of Your presence. You are my help. Thank you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I pray this in the matchless name of Jesus the Christ, the Lamb of God.
Day 11 - The Value of Meaning
In the last month, I have contemplated on the word: meaning.
We want our lives to have meaning, right? But why?
I believe the reason is that meaning brings value and releases destiny. (Think about that for a moment.) Our sense of meaning helps define us. Many of us at some time have asked the question, "God, why am I?"
Usually the word meaning is articulated in the question: What am I living for?
The answers are numerous: our kids, God, for people to meet Jesus, to have a life without financial lack, to be known, to be liked...The following prayer will impact your future:
Pray aloud: My God, Creator of heaven and earth, I come to You in the name of Jesus the Christ, the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. You are the One who defines me, the One who wrote my days in Your book (Psalm 139:16), the One by whom all things consist. (Col 1:17) Upon You have I leaned from before my birth (Psalm 71:6). Lord this verse informs me that my spirit-the eternal part of me-imagined and created in Your heart, has known You and is known by You in such an intimate way. Before the womb and while in the womb, my spirit depended on You. So first, Lord I understand that I exist to testify that You are Creator, You are faithful and true, You are the source of who I am. You define me and give my life meaning.
Holy Spirit, help me not live for others more than I live for You! Help me find more value in belonging to You than anything else this world or this life could offer. Right after I finish this prayer, launch me into the destiny that You designed for me, a destiny that is good, full of life, and filled with Your righteousness. You determined that I be here at this time on Earth. Show me what You wrote about me in Your book. If I am out of agreement with "the days that were formed for me" because I have been presumptuous, or chosen my own path, or ignored Your promptings, or been affected by the decisions and sins of others, please forgive me, heal me, restore me and align my life: beliefs, words, goals, actions, behavior, lifestyle, and decisions with what You wrote in Your book. (Psalm 139:16)
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with You (v. 17-18). I am fearfully and wonderfully made! I am fearfully and wonderfully made! (pause) Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well (v. 14)!
(pause and discern any thought, picture, emotion)
Through Jesus the Messiah, You have shown me the way everlasting. He has forgiven what is grievous in me. (v. 24) Jesus will complete my process of spiritual, emotional, and mental maturity. (Phil 1:6)
Lastly, God I thank You for the people in my life and the condition of my present situations that don't define me, but teach me. I have meaning. I am an expression of the love and grace of the Most High God. Oh Lord, I say "Hallelujah!"
Day 12 - Consecration Prayer
Lord, I bring every part of my self to you this day. (pause)
You are my healer and restorer. You search me. Please let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, Lord You are my rock and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) You make all things new. Make today a totally new day for every part of my being, seen and unseen.
Lord Jesus, I renounce and repent for all those in my family line and me, back to the beginning of time and from Adam and Eve forward, who never turned from pride, arrogance, jealousy, and hate; who never turned from selfish ambition, domination, and manipulation, who never turned from self-rejection, self-denial, and idolatry. I acknowledge that these sins and iniquities have prevented the blessings of the Lord from correctly coming down the family line and being released in my life/ and the lives of my husband/and children.
Forgive us for giving ground to the enemy. Cover our sins and iniquities with the blood of Jesus the Messiah, vanquish every evil spirit, and stop every curse that has been in place as a result of these sins and iniquities. (Deut. 30:19) Lord, my mouth is Yours. Help me use it to build up and encourage. Lord, my body is Yours. Help me honor it through diligent care and pure living.
Lord, my mind is Yours. Help me cast down reasonings, thoughts, and imaginations that You do not like. (2 Cor 10:5) Help me lean not to my own understanding but acknowledge You in all my ways, and You will make my paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Lord, You are worthy of all honor and all glory, forever and ever Amen.
